Citylights is set to make a statement in the local property landscape. It exudes vibrance and a contemporary feel that resonates with the nostalgic art-deco style of yesteryears.
The development consists of 4 condominium towers soaring above 40 storeys, and a row of 16 pre-war art deco shophouses which was converted to 10 units of “premium heritage townhouses”.
Townhouses within condominium projects are said to be able to offer the best of both worlds – a landed-home feel as well as the security and facilities of a condo. Another key advantage is that foreigners, including permanent residents, do not need to seek the approval of the Land Dealings (Approval) Unit approval to buy them as the structures would be under the condominium strata-title.
In Singapore, foreigners need to seek the approval before they can buy any landed property, which would usually take about 8 weeks, except for Sentosa Cove where they can enjoy a “fast-track approval” within 48 hours.
3 of the 4 towers were connected by a recreation sky terrace with fitness facilities, Jacuzzi, reading and yoga corners, at 24th storey. The other block has a children play deck on the 23rd storey. Citylights also offers a full range of recreational facilities as well.
Did you know: The shophouses were built in the late 1920s by a Swiss civil engineer Henrich Rudolf Arbenz. The ground floors were traditionally used for light industries, and were mainly hardware stores, while the upper floors were used as homes.
Citylights has won the URA Architectural Heritage Awards 2008. The awards are presented yearly to owners, architects, engineers and contractors to promote quality restoration of buildings in Singapore with preservation or conservation status. Citylights is one of the 7 winning restoration projects.
