Being one of the world busiest ports today, Tanjong Pagar has been indentified to be the next waterfront city in Singapore. After 2027, the prime waterfront space will be occupied by skyscrapers when operator PSA Corporation's lease on the land expires.

Being an attractive place located at the fringe of the city and also with a size that is similar to Marina Bay, Tanjong Pagar is selected as the best choice to be the next waterfront city. This will aid in the expansion of the business district and apartments, hotels, and lifestyle and tourism facilities of Singapore. In addition, it will provide large opportunities to support future growth. The close proximity to the Central Business District is also a reason to why Tanjong Pagar is chosen.
