According to the Sample Household Survey (SHS) 2008, conducted by HDB, 85.8 per cent of HDB residents from approximately 8,000 households felt that their flats are value for money. This was largely due to price appreciation in their flats’ values, good locations, proximity to facilities, and affordability of the units.

In addition, SHS found that 95.1 percent of respondents were pleased with their neighbourhood and 96.4 per cent of households were pleased with their flats. Respondents had ranked location, transportation and provision of estates facilities as the 3 aspects they liked most about their HDB neighbourhoods.
