Latest statistics from the Urban Redevelopment Authority (URA) have shown that 1,476 new homes were sold in January, approximately 3 times of the 481 units sold in December. In addition, about half of units sold are in prime areas like Cairnhill and Holland Road. This is also the first time monthly sales figures have increased since July last year. In fact, more units are bought than the number released by developers in that month. Hence, it was more than the mean 1,230 units sold per month in 2007. The areas also saw the largest increase in number of units launched and sold : 690 units aunched by developers in January in total. Now, instead of the mass market or suburban condominiums which drove the property boom last year, there is a move towards high-priced homes as home purchases of $3 million and above made up 8 per cent of all transactions last quarter of last year.
