Mar 2010 Issue: Universal Studios Singapore

Southeast Asia’s first Universal Studios has its soft launch on 18 March, exactly at 8.28am. The theme park was opened with a lavish ceremony, which aimed at bringing in luck and repeated business.
The 20ha movie theme park has 24 attractions and rides, of which 18 are completely new or adapted for Singapore. It also has the largest collection of DreamWorks animation theme-park attractions, occupying 2 of the 7 themed zones (‘Far Far Away’ from Shrek and the island of ‘Madagascar’).
However, during the soft launch, only 18 rides will be made available– including the Battlestar Galactica, which is the world’s tallest dueling rollercoaster. According to the spokesman of Resorts World Sentosa (RWS), some of the rides are ‘temporarily unavailable’ as they would require some ‘technical and creative adjustments’. This fine-tuning of the rides is to ensure that the guests get the best experience. Therefore, in view of this, guests will have a rebate of $15 in the form of F&B vouchers during this period.
So, let’s have a quick comparison of the 4 Universal Studios in the world:
