Feb 2010 Issue: NTUC theme park may require a facelift
With the opening of the Universal Studios at Resorts World Sentosa, business at Escape Theme Park (ETP) Pasir Ris is likely to be affected. However, NTUC Club, which runs the park, feels that its affordable price for the locals will still be able to attract customers. For instance, its one-year pass for the public costs lower than a one-day weekday pass at Universal Studios. Thus, there will be no move to introduce new rides or price cuts for the time being. Meanwhile, 3 rides from ETP have been removed with a possibly due to safety concerns. Recently, there was also a promotion with adults paying $18 to enter both ETP and Wild Wild Wet which will normally cost $17.70 and $15.50, respectively, for the parks. However, members of the public feel that a change is required for the rides and restaurants to cater better to families. Thus, Universal Studios Singapore may still be an attractive alternative entertainment for families.
